Sulfasalazine Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when sulfasalazine is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Digoxin
Sulfasalazine may decrease the absorption of digoxin into your body, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider should monitor the level of digoxin in your blood, especially when you are starting or stopping sulfasalazine.

Folic Acid
Sulfasalazine may decrease the absorption of folic acid into your body. Ask your healthcare provider about taking folic acid supplements, especially if you are a woman of childbearing age.

Warfarin
Sulfasalazine may interact with warfarin. Your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely and adjust your warfarin dosage as necessary to prevent drug interactions from occurring.
