Lialda Drug Interactions

If certain medications are taken with Lialda, drug interactions may occur. If it is combined with digoxin or warfarin, for example, it could lead to a decreased absorption of warfarin or digoxin into your body. These interactions can also result in decreased effectiveness of the medications. If Lialda drug interactions are a concern, your healthcare provider may adjust your dosages.

Lialda® (mesalamine) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to Lialda drug interactions include:
 
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).

Digoxin
Lialda may decrease the absorption of digoxin into your body, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider should monitor the level of digoxin in your blood, especially when you are starting or stopping Lialda.
 
Warfarin
There have been a few reports of Lialda making warfarin less effective. Your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely and adjust your warfarin dosage as necessary to prevent this interaction from occurring.
