Infliximab Risks

Although most people have no problems when taking infliximab (Remicade®), there are certain risks to be aware of before beginning treatment. For example, side effects are possible with this medication, such as infusion reactions, headaches, and stomach pain. People taking it may also be at a greater risk for developing infections, which is why you should not take this drug if you have any sort of an infection, no matter how mild.

In addition, certain people may have a greater risk of problems with infliximab than others, such as people with congestive heart failure, a history of cancer, or multiple sclerosis. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should talk with their healthcare providers before taking this drug.
