Humira Dosage: An Overview
The dose of
Humira® (
adalimumab) your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- The medical condition being treated
- Your weight (for children)
- Other medical conditions you may have
- Other medications you may currently be taking.
Humira Dosing for Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, or Rheumatoid Arthritis
The recommended Humira dose for these conditions is 40 mg injected every other week. Some people with
rheumatoid arthritis, especially those not taking methotrexate (Rheumatrex
®) with Humira, may need to take Humira 40 mg every week.
Humira Dosing for Juvenile Idiopathic (Rheumatoid) Arthritis
For children weighing 33 to 66 pounds, the recommended dose is Humira 20 mg every other week. For children 66 pounds or heavier, the recommended
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis dose of Humira is 40 mg every other week.
Humira Dosing for Crohn's Disease
The recommended Humira dose for
Crohn's disease is Humira 160 mg for the first dose (taken as four separate injections over one or two days), followed by 80 mg two weeks later, then 40 mg every other week.
Humira Dosing for Plaque Psoriasis
For
psoriasis treatment, the recommended dose is Humira 80 mg for the first dose, followed by Humira 40 mg every other week (starting the week after the first dose).
