Crohn's disease, also called ileitis or enteritis, is an illness that causes the digestive tract to become inflamed. The inflammation frequently affects more than one layer of the wall of the digestive tract, which can cause the intestines to empty more frequently. Chronic diarrhea is often the result. Crohn's disease cannot be cured, but lifelong treatment can help people with the condition live active and productive lives.
