Colazal Indications

The primary approved use (or indication) for the drug Colazal® (balsalazide disodium) is as a treatment for ulcerative colitis, a type of inflammatory bowel disease. It works by inhibiting the action of certain chemicals in the lining of the colon that are responsible for causing the inflammation associated with this disease.

This product can be used in children as young as five years old; however, you should still discuss the benefits and risks of giving Colazal to your child with his or her healthcare provider. You may find that lifestyle and dietary modifications are enough to relieve any ulcerative colitis symptoms.
