Colazal Dangers

Colazal® (balsalazide disodium) is a prescription ulcerative colitis treatment. While most side effects of the drug (such as fatigue and gas) are not serious, dangerous side effects sometimes occur while taking Colazal. For example, some of these serious reactions include:
 
  • Decreased urination
  • Worsening of ulcerative colitis symptoms
  • Allergic reactions, such as difficulty breathing or an unexplained rash.
     
Other potential dangers include possible drug interactions and the risk of using Colazal while pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, you may not be able to take this product if you have certain medical conditions, such as pyloric stenosis or kidney disease.
