Colazal® (
balsalazide disodium) is a prescription drug used to treat
ulcerative colitis. It comes in the form of a capsule and is available in only one strength: 750 mg. The recommended dose of Colazal for adults with ulcerative colitis is three 750-mg capsules, taken three times daily for up to 8 to 12 weeks.
For this medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed -- it won't work if you stop taking it. In addition, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider has specifically told you to do so.
