Canasa Risks

Although most people have no problems when taking Canasa® (mesalamine), there are certain risks to be aware of before beginning treatment. For example, this medicine may cause side effects. Commonly reported ones include dizziness, rectal pain, and fever. Fortunately, if such problems occur, they are usually mild and easily treated.

In addition, people with certain medical conditions may be at greater risk for problems with Canasa. For example, people with pericarditis, pancreatitis, or certain allergies may need to take a different medication to treat their ulcerative proctitis.
